Company Recognized By Florida Trend Magazine in 250+ Employees Category

MELBOURNE, Florida, August 3, 2009 — Harris Corporation (NYSE: HRS), an international communications and information technology company, was named one of Florida's 'Best Companies to Work For' by Florida Trend business magazine. Harris was ranked in the category representing large companies with 250 or more employees. Twenty-five companies were recognized in this category by the publication and are listed in the August issue of Florida Trend and at www.floridatrend.com.

The selection process consisted of two parts. The first was a questionnaire regarding policies, practices and demographics that was completed by the participating company. The second consisted of results from anonymous surveys that were filled out by employees chosen at random by the Best Companies Group, which managed the survey, analysis and ranking process. These questionnaires focused on leadership and planning, corporate culture and communications, role satisfaction, work environment, relationships with supervisors, training and development, pay and benefits, and overall engagement.

"We recognize that our company’s most valuable asset is our dedicated and talented workforce, which serves our customers, shareholders and our communities every day," said Howard L. Lance, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Harris. "We are committed to creating the type of environment where every employee is encouraged to work to their highest potential to achieve both professional success and personal satisfaction. Harris is honored to be recognized as a great place to work by Florida Trend."

"Our goal is to recognize companies that strive to build even better workplaces for their employees, thereby strengthening their own as well as Florida’s competitive advantage in the national and global arenas," says Florida Trend publisher Bruce Faulmann.

"We’ve highlighted the practices of companies that have established themselves as great places to work — including everything from how they train their workers to how they communicate and the kind of pay and benefits they provide. This is a great opportunity for companies in Florida to learn from each other as they go about improving their own effectiveness," says Mark Howard, executive editor.
