Harris Corporation Maxiva TV Transmitter Receives Highest Marks During Competitive DVB-T2 Testing in Kazakhstan

MELBOURNE, FL/WINNERSH, UK, March, 2011 — Harris Corporation (NYSE:HRS), an international communications and information technology company, announced that its Maxiva™ UAX TV transmitter system was awarded highest marks by Kazakhstan's national broadcaster, JSC Kazteleradio, during recent competitive field strength studies and DVB-T to DVB-T2 signal tests.

The state-of-the-art tests — conducted by JSC Kazteleradio in preparation for the broadcaster's transition to digital television (DTV) — conclusively proved that the DVB-T2 signal broadcasts using the Harris^® Maxiva transmitter provided a higher bit rate when compared to those of the competition.

"The DVB-T2 coverage provided by the Harris Maxiva transmitter with the Jampro JAT-2 antenna exceeded our expectations," said Abay Kadraliev, chairman of JSC Kazteleradio. "We are very excited with the new transmitter, which has proven to provide excellent coverage. Harris' attention to detail — including the new M2X exciter with its ability to produce both DVB-T and DVB-T2 with adaptive pre-correction, the high level of redundancy in its transmitters, and the technical support we received — has demonstrated to Kazteleradio that they are the right partner for our important national initiative. A 1,000 watt, air-cooled Maxiva transmitter system featuring software-defined Apex M2X™ technology was connected to a Jampro JAT-2 series UHF antenna to compare the two signals side-by side while broadcasting Channel 49 in Karaganda, Kazakhstan.

"These tests underscore the Maxiva transmitter's powerful ability to broadcast DVB-T2 and MPEG-4 for SD and HD content," said Alain Pecot, vice president for transmitter sales in Europe and Africa.
