Matrox Announces the Broadcast Industry’s Most Versatile SDI I/O Low-Profile Card

Matrox DSX LE5 LP 12G offers broadcast OEMs four channels of fully reconfigurable SDI I/Os up to 12G to build dynamic, cost-effective 1RU/2RU/3U systems for HD, 4K/UHD, and 8K workflows

MONTREAL, Quebec — May 13, 2021 — Matrox® Video today unveils the Matrox DSX LE5 LP 12G card, the newest addition to its industry-leading broadcast developer product lineup. This multi-channel, low-profile card offers up to four reconfigurable 12G/3G/HD-SDI inputs/outputs (I/Os) to set up any SDI I/O configuration with any resolution. Along with the comprehensive Matrox DSX SDK, DSX LE5 LP 12G enables broadcast equipment manufacturers to build compact, feature-rich, and cost-effective systems for demanding HD, 4K/UHD, and 8K/UHD2 broadcast workflows.

A new standard in SDI I/O flexibility

The DSX LE5 LP 12G card provides four independently reconfigurable inputs or four outputs, all in 12G-SDI or a combination of 12G/3G/HD-SDI. This SDI I/O versatility enables support for popular and emerging resolution formats: 12G-SDI, quad-HD-SDI, or quad-sample interleave 3G-SDI for 4K/UHD content or quad 12G-SDI for 8K/UHD2 video. Additional features such as built-in frame synchronizers, embedded audio inputs and outputs, and downscaling for input preview purposes ensure OEMs meet the latest requirements for next-generation broadcast graphics systems, channel-in-a-box platforms, and capture/playout video servers.

Essential developer tool building blocks

The Matrox DSX SDK provides the reliability and stability required for demanding on-air broadcast operations. A unified architecture that is common across all Matrox SDI I/O, ST 2110 NIC, and H.264 codec cards, the DSX SDK supports key functions—including file reading/writing, memory management, and a range of file formats, codecs, and effects—to facilitate an agile development effort. A prototyping tool is also available to rapidly simulate and test use cases without writing a single line of code.

"The Matrox DSX LE5 LP 12G card is the missing link when it comes to building solutions for the industry's quad-SDI I/O sweet spot," said Francesco Scartozzi, VP of sales and business development, Broadcast and Media Group at Matrox Video. "With zero compromise made on the I/O, the DSX LE5 LP 12G is the most versatile low-profile platform, offering every SDI I/O permutation and resolution support for HD, 4K, and 8K SDI applications."
