Matrox Introduces NRG - a Multi-Output Redundant Power Supply for 24/7 and Mission-Critical Applications

Matrox NRG ensures uninterrupted uptime of Matrox-based encoding, decoding, IP KVM extension, and display in any operating condition

MONTREAL, Quebec — June 16, 2021 — Matrox® Video today introduces Matrox NRG, a multi-output redundant power supply unit (RPSU) providing zero-compromise uptime protection of Matrox encoders, decoders, IP KVMs, and multi-monitor controllers. Featuring two hot-swappable power supply modules and IP connectivity for status monitoring and output control, Matrox NRG maintains high-performance encoding, streaming, recording, decoding, extension, switching, and display operations in 24/7 and mission-critical environments.

100% redundancy of up to five devices

Matrox NRG includes two field-replaceable redundant power supply modules of 300W each, with hot-swap functionality to replace an individual power module without interrupting the 12-volt outputs. Automatic load balancing ensures even usage of both power supplies, extending their service life. The NRG 1U, ½ rack, pre-installed unit powers up to five Matrox appliances simultaneously, while the NRG dual-density RPSU option supports up to ten Matrox appliances.

Supported Matrox appliances include:

  • Extio™ 3 4K/quad-HD IP KVM extenders
  • Maevex 6100 quad-4K/UHD encoders and decoders
  • Maevex 6020, Panopto™-certified remote recorder
  • Monarch EDGE 4K/quad-HD remote production encoders and decoders
  • Monarch HDX and LCS dual-channel encoders
  • QuadHead2Go™ multi-monitor video wall controllers
  • Remote device monitoring, control, and more

Through a password-protected and HTTPS-encrypted web interface, users can monitor the status of each power module and control the 12-volt outputs of the power supply unit from any location over IP. In addition, the NRG units feature an independent GPIO connector to track power module failures, along with LEDs that provide the status of each output and AC input.

"Matrox NRG is a failsafe component that enhances the robustness of many of our devices, a necessary requirement for many of the projects where our products are installed," said Daniel Maloney, technical marketing manager at Matrox Video. "Further, for installations that require multiple devices, the multi-output capability provides redundancy, ensuring maximum uptime of high-quality video delivery and display without consuming valuable rack space."

Availability

The Matrox NRG single-density (part#: NRG-1DB) and NRG dual-density (part#: NRG-2DB) redundant power supply units are now available. For more information on the NRG, or to request a demo, please contact Matrox.
