Panasonic Video Surveillance Technologies Achieve DIACAP Pre-Certification
Posted on Wednesday, November 13, 2013
Newark, NJ (November 13, 2013) – Panasonic System Communications Company of North America, a leading provider of integrated security and surveillance solutions, today announced that a range of its video surveillance technologies have been pre-certified as compliant with the security and risk management requirements of the United States Department of Defense (DoD), verified by the Department of Defense Information Assurance Certification and Accreditation Process (DIACAP). Based on stringent testing processes, Panasonic’s ASM200 video management software and seven IP network-enabled cameras have been pre-certified for operation as part of a DIACAP certified system. Serco Inc., a leading provider of professional, technology and management services, served as the certification authority responsible for assessing the technology and providing a DIACAP recommendation.

DIACAP certification is an intensive requirement that validates visibility and control for the secure operation of all information technology systems that operate on a DoD network. It ensures that risk management is applied to information systems within the DoD in order to protect personal privacy, the information environment, and other missions reliant upon shared information. Full DIACAP certification requires that a complete security system receive the recommendation of a certification authority, pass the review of a designated approval authority and be tested as a comprehensive, integrated solutions package before becoming eligible to receive authorization to operate as part of a DoD network. The range of Panasonic network cameras evaluated by Serco is now pre-certified to work as part of a system authorized to operate (ATO) in accordance with DIACAP requirements.

Panasonic designs and deploys complete end-to-end security and surveillance systems from software to cameras and recorders providing customers with one of the broadest solutions portfolios in the industry.  Panasonic’s security and surveillance solutions are engineered from the ground up to capture, record, view, and manage security video data that meets or exceeds industry standards. In addition to delivering unmatched image clarity and quality, the selection of IP network cameras now DIACAP pre-certified are also Trade Agreements Act (TAA) compliant, verifying they have been approved as U.S. – made or designated country end products that meet the procurement requirements of the federal government.

”DIACAP testing entails some of the security industry’s most rigorous verification procedures, and the successful completion of this pre-certification process demonstrates Serco’s expertise as a provider of government technology services.” said Denise Ellison, Director for Defense and Intel's Engineering Business Unit for Serco Inc. “We are proud to recognize Panasonic’s range of video management software and IP network cameras with DIACAP pre-certification.”

“DIACAP certified systems allow the Department of Defense to operate within secure environments that deliver the safeguards necessary to protect the nation’s people, property and assets”, said Greg Peratt, Panasonic Senior Director of Video Surveillance Solutions. “As a leading global provider of government security and surveillance solutions, Panasonic is committed to ensuring its systems meet the security and risk management requirements of its customers and we look forward to expanding our support for the United States Department of Defense with DIACAP pre-certification.”
